Karate in San Diego is everywhere. You may find several Karate San Diego schools in a few blocks. Most people liked Karate before Bruce lee, Jet Li and Jackie Chan's movies introduced Kung Fu to America. In recent years, Chinese Martial Arts, inclouding Kung Fu, Wushu, Tai Chi, and SanShou, have been gaining dominance. Many people have come to appreciate like Kung Fu after watching such recent movies as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," Jet Li's "Hero", and all-American Kung Fu movies like "Matrix" and "Charlie's Angels".  If you are interested in learning Kung Fu / Wushu / Kungfu here in San Diego, please visit the JING institute! We have the best and most caring Chinese Martial Arts instructors.

  • Taiji.de An extremely good pictoral guide and video downloads to

  • The Wushu Taichi Center in San Luis Obispo, CA.  Coach Wei Wei, teammate to the Center's head coach, the amazing Liu Yu, taught here when he first came to America.  I also highly recommend Liu Yu's book, Awakening the Sleeping Tiger. Incidentally, we have a few copies of Awakening on-site at JING :)

  • Wushu Central Another incredible resource for videos, and a good way to get to know the local Wushu community. You can also find their videos on YouTube; a great example is the Basic Wushu Longfist (Basic Changquan).

  • Book: Kung Fu Elements Wushu Training and Martial Arts Application Manual. By Shou-Yu Liang and Wen-Ching Wu. You should really get this book.

  • Book: Taijiquan, by Li Deyin. This is the best book I can possibly recommend for learning and practicing Taiji / Tai Chi.

  • Benny Meng's Wing Chun Museum Wing Chun with Benny Meng in Kansas City

  • Bujinkan Taka-Seigi Dojo "The essence of all martial arts and military strategies is self-protection and the prevention of danger.... More that simply defeating or outwitting an enemy, Ninpo is the way of attaining that which we need to live happily, while making the world a better place."

  • Cal Wushu UC Berkeley has a great wushu community.

  • CHEN Sitan China's Prince of Taiji now lives in New York! Chen Sitan has a lot of VCDs of many taiji forms and taiji sword forms. His instructional tapes are best sellers in China, for good reason!

  • The International Chinese Martial Arts Championships Tournaments, seminars, and other information.
